The « Vélorail des Gorges du Doux » at Boucieu le Roi
Curious pedal cars, traveling on a hundred-year-old railway track, in the heart of preserved gorges : that's the Vélorail des Gorges du Doux. A descent of 12kilometers with 2 different circuits: the « Viaducs » and the « Etroits ». It's the pleasure of discovering at your own pace a unique place, classified as a sensitive natural area. Following the Vivarais (the old name of the department of Ardèche) railway, locally knowns under the name of Mastrou. This fun activity will satisfy lovers of nature. The Vélorail is located on the labelled village (village de caractère) of Boucieu le Roi, one of the most beautiful villages of Ardèche and the first to be labeled Accueil Vélo. Equipment is installed in the village to allow cyclists to visit the village.
Les canotiers Boat n'bike
Combine the pleasure of cycling and a cruise on the Rhone river! This is the beautiful idea of the Compagnie des Canotiers : a bike ride, return by boat or vice versa. The diversity of landscapes and points of view is surprising. Embark aboard a « Sapine », a wooden boat, flat bottom, designed for river transport. Le Train de l’Ardèche and downhill bike road
From the Tournon sur Rhône / Saint Jean de Muzols train station, the Train de l’Ardèche offers the possibility to combine the train journey and a downhill route. A new wagon is specially designed to load the bicycles aboard the Mastrou, going to Lamastre. The return is almost done in freewheel. The pleasure of the descent, over Doux Valley.
