Our destination Ardèche Hermitage is located in the northern part of the Côtes du Rhône and in the heart of the « Vallée de la Gastronomie », stretching from Dijon to Provence. Here, everything is a question of taste, flavors, terroir... a real paradise for food lovers and epicureans.

We have been certified "Vignobles et Découvertes" since 2011. This label aims to promote tourist and wine-growing destinations. 85 professionals: cellars, sites, activities, restaurants and accommodation in our territory have committed to this quality to promote our region through our 3 beautiful appellations: Hermitage, Crozes - Hermitage and Saint-Joseph. Wine is part of our DNA: by shaping our landscapes, by punctuating our seasons, by being at the theme of many events throughout the year. The label has therefore naturally imposed itself as a great way to develop and publicize our wine tourism offer.

We can't talk about wine without talking about gastronomy! A new destination « Vallée de la Gastronomie France » was created in 2016, under the impetus of the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region and quickly joined by the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions. It was officially inaugurated on Monday, June 24, 2019. The geographical location and the know-how of Ardèche Hermitage producers once again make the difference. Our destination then becomes the heart of the Valley of Gastronomy, a tasty place. Professionals are mobilizing around a new brand, to make Ardèche Hermitage the unmissable stopover for any gourmet!

Chapelle de l'Hermitage

Our three appellations: Hermitage, Saint Joseph and Crozes Hermitage

3 famous appellations: Hermitage, Saint Joseph and Crozes Hermitage which were born in Ardèche Hermitage region! Today, they make our region famous and rank our terroirs among the best in the world.

Saint Joseph: Mauves wine

The splendid steep slopes of Saint Joseph located on the right bank of the Rhône catch all eyes! The terraced vineyards impress all the curious who like to discover the vineyards on foot or by car following an itinerary of the Rhône Valley wine route.

Red wines produced from a main grape variety: Syrah (it is still authorized to add 10% of 2 white grape varieties: Roussanne and Marsanne). These are essentially red wines, powerful, with marked but elegant tannins and aromas of spices. 10% of the production of Saint-Joseph is white wines mixing, once again, the Roussanne and Marsanne grape varieties. Wines with notes of white flowers, honey, acacia and even apricot. Taste them with a picodon, goat cheese from the region, a beautiful combination that will change the minds of fans of the classic: red wine and cheese.

Verre de Crozes-Hermitage Rouge

The Mythical Hermitage

It is one of those legendary wines that sometimes drives auctions crazy ! An appellation that oenophiles treasure for many years before tasting the nectar. A high quality wine for laying down, this is an exceptional cru.

The red wines are once again based on Syrah and have a pretty ruby red color. Young, we appreciate its aromas of red fruits, evolving with aging towards notes of violet, spices and blackcurrant.

The whites are blended wines of the grape varieties: Roussanne and Marsanne. On tasting, we find aromas of flowers, peach and apricot. After a few years, notes of vanilla and toasted almonds will appear. Fans will appreciate its aromatic persistence. An appellation to discover along your wine route in the Rhône Valley

Crozes-Hermitage: a diversity of terroirs

Another story of Syrah, the star grape variety of the northern Rhône Valley ! It is expressed here differently depending on the soils on which it was planted. Indeed, Crozes-Hermitage is the most extensive appellation of northern Côtes du Rhône wines with an area of 1,650 hectares of vineyards in 11 villages of Ardèche Hermitage. Pebbles from the Rhône, white land from Larnage, predominantly granite soils… A different geology and weather from north to south of the appellation giving wines of great heterogeneity.

In the mouth, the red Crozes-Hermitage are less powerful than the Hermitage, supple with beautiful notes of red fruits. It’s so tasty: enjoy it with a nice square of chocolate…Valrhona. The white Crozes-Hermitage are full of freshness and are easy to taste.
