Perhaps untamable, like these highland landscapes, volcanic is aptly named, but in any case, it's one to defy! Arguably indomitable, in keeping with the highland landscape, La Volcanique circuit lives up to its name and is a challenge in every sense of the word! It demands a serious effort, climbing up above 1000m altitude – you can gauge your progress against some of the highest landmarks in Ardèche, including the Mont Gerbier de Jonc and the source of the Loire river. A circuit of breathtaking beauty, alternating between granite sucs, volcanic flows, crater lakes, waterfalls and villages continually adapting to the harsh basalt landscape and the exposure of silent open spaces.
