Description

The Big Mountain-Bike Crossing of Ardèche is a trail of over 315 km with an elevation of 5,569m. Designed for fans of mountain-bike touring, it includes 40 places to stay with the Cyclists Welcome label. You'll discover the superb, unspoilt landscapes of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park, between the Massif Central and the Cévennes, passing at the foot of the famous Mézenc and Gerbier-de-Jonc mountains.
The route is divided into 3 parts:

l'Ardèche Verte, with two possible departure points: Annonay or Tournon sur Rhône, for a 100 km or so sporting variant in the direction of the Montagne Ardèchoise, and above all access via TER and TGV trains from the Rhône Valley.

Crossing the Parc naturel régional des Monts d'Ardèche and the Montagne Ardéchoise: from Lac de Devesset to Les Vans.

Ardèche Méridionale: from Vallon Pont d'Arc and the Ardèche gorges to Bourg-Saint-Andéol in the Rhône valley.

Most of the route follows the GR7 and GR4. Thanks to the "Grande Traversée de l'Ardèche VTT" signposted by the French Cycling Federation, you'll be able to get away from it all in complete peace of mind. Classified as a "Grande traversée médiane" and alternating between trails and wide tracks, the route is accessible to mountain bikers of all levels, with sections ranging from gentle to challenging.
Bonus: the route is suitable for electric-assist mountain bikes.
